Celebrating Community Afternoon Tea

Join us on Sunday, May 6th at the Famee Furlane Toronto for traditional afternoon tea. Some of the highlights of the afternoon will include the fabulous fashionable fascinator contest and our guest speaker, Pattie Lovett-Reid, Personal Finance Expert & Host, MoneyTalk.

Last year’s event was sold-out, attended by over 350 guests. We encourage you to purchase your tickets early. Tickets are $100 per person and sponsorship packages are also available and start at $500.

The 42nd Annual Famee Furlane Toronto Golf Classic
Date: Wednesday, June 20, 2012

The annual Famee Furlane Golf Classic, in support of Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity, will once again be held at the picturesque Carrying Place Golf and Country Club in Kettleby. Built in 1958, Carrying Place is a friendly and challenging golf course with 125 acres of gently rolling terrain, mature trees, manicured greens and over 11 acres of water hazards. This magnificent golf course is truly unique.

Dine & Art
Friday, February 17, 2012

The inaugural Dine & Art fundraiser was enjoyed by all that attended. The evening consisted of a four course gourmet dinner, paired with special wine offerings and prepared by the chefs of the al Fogolar Restaurant. An art auction assembled by Rocco Pannese and Lou Ruffolo of Kipling Gallery showcased Canadian artists Joseph Capicotto; Monika Dabrowska; Andy Donato; Robert Potvin and Salvatore Gallo (who was present and graciously personalized his works of arts for their new collectors).

Celebrating Community Afternoon Tea

Speaker: Dr. Nancy Olivieri, Senior Scientist, Division of Clinical Investigation & Human Physiology, Toronto General Research Institute (TGRI)
Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, and Public Health Sciences, University of Toronto


Co-Chaired by business and community leaders Rose Chiodo, Maria Chiodo, Rita Chiodo Diamantakos and Sabrina Chiodo Marimpietri, the 2011 Celebrating Community Afternoon Tea raised funds in support of the Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity and Alternatives.

Over three hundred and fifty guests attended the event which was celebrated with traditional afternoon tea fare including a variety of teas, delectable sandwiches, scones, jam and Devon cream. Master of Ceremonies, Elvira Caria kept the afternoon’s atmosphere light and lively while the Jim Gillard Trio and dancers from the Marie Ann Longlade School of Dance provided unforgettable entertainment.  

The highlight of the afternoon was a presentation given by keynote speaker Dr. Nancy Olivieri (Senior Scientist, Division of Clinical Investigation & Human Physiology, Toronto General Research Institute and Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, and Public Health Sciences, University of Toronto). Dr. Olivieri spoke of her work regarding hemoglobin disorders and thalassemia in particular.

The Italian Canadian Artist, Albert (Umberto) Chiarandini): His Friulian Background and His Interpretations of Canada

Professor Olga Zorzi Pugliese spoke on the artist contributions of artist, Alberto Chiarandini, a former resident of Villa Leonardo Gambin residence. Joan Tadier (Albert Chiarandini’s daughter) was also present and provided insights on the life of the artist.
