Gilles Villeneuve, October 8, 1978 (Montreal, Canadian GP);
Alain Prost, July 5, 1981 (Dijon, French GP);

Sebastian Vettel, September 14, 2008 (Monza, Italian GP).

On Saturday, March 23, 2013 you will have the opportunity to “join” this elite group of drivers should you win the inaugural 2013 Villa Gambin Grand Prix (go-kart version). The circuit is the Grand Prix Kartways in-door track in Toronto with its fast “sweepers” combined with a technical “in-field” section.
Hopefully at this point you are smiling to yourself and thinking, “What is this?”
The Villa Gambin Grand Prix is three things:
- A fundraiser for the Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity and its long term care residence for seniors and adults with special needs.
a. The Charity was established in 2001 with the goal of building and maintaining a long-term care home on the campus of the Famee Furlane Toronto. The Villa Leonardo Gambin long term care residence with 168 beds was officially opened on October 30, 2004. Through fundraising initiatives major renovations and expansions have taken place for the benefit of residents and their loved ones.- A fun event that will further strengthen and develop team spirit within your successful organization; and
- Bragging rights against your Villa Gambin Grand Prix competitors and experiencing the thrill of being a “Grand Prix” winner.
By way of brief event summary, there are only twenty four (24) team entries ($1,500 / team of four). Each team entry consists of four members: Team Principal/Driver; and three (3) additional drivers. The first two rounds of the Villa Gambin Grand Prix are time trials during which each team driver’s goal is to post the fastest time for his/her team. At the conclusion of the time trials, the Team Principal nominates the team’s driver for subsequent elimination rounds. The subsequent rounds include: Quarter-Finals; Semi-Finals and a two heat Final. Each team driver is guaranteed participation in the first two qualifying rounds. Each team is guaranteed participation through to the Quarter Finals.

The 42nd Annual Famee Furlane Toronto Golf Classic
Wednesday, June 20, 2012
On the first day of summer, Toronto broke a 63-year-old (1949) record of 34.4 C and reached a high of 34.6 C. An extreme heat alert was issued as temperatures rose into the low 40s after factoring in the humidity! That didn’t stop a full complement of brave golfers from coming out to our annual Golf Classic, in support of several worthy local charities. They were well tended to with various food and drink stations, along the course, topped off with a great dinner at the Famee Furlane Toronto.
The tournament was held at Carrying Place Golf and Country Club and funds raised were directed towards the Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity (and its long-term care residence), CamH – Clinical Genetic Research Program and Caritas.
The Golf Committee, chaired by Italo DiBonaventura, wishes to acknowledge and thank all our sponsors (including the Golf Classic’s presenting sponsor, Italian Canadian Savings & Credit Union), participants and volunteers for another successful year and congratulations to all the winners!
