Through your generous support, the Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity was able to open its long term care residence in 2004. Recently, the $21 million residence underwent a $1.5 expansion / renovation, again made possible by the support of donors, from individuals, associations and corporations.

There is a continuing need to fundraising so that programmes and services provided at the long term care residence are of the highest quality. The Charity takes its responsibility for donor dollars seriously and works to ensure that funds are directed properly.

Major Gifts:

A major gift is a large donation, most often for a designated purpose.

Areas within the long term care residence have been designated as naming opportunities, ranging from Resident Rooms on each of the residence’s six floors to the naming of a specific Resident Home Area (RHA).

Recognition of the donation will be provided by a plaque adjacent to the naming opportunity as well as on the Donor Wall located in the lobby of the residence.


Tribute Donations:

There are two types of “Tribute Donations”:

• In Honour (celebration of a particular milestone, such as Wedding Anniversary, Birthday, etc.) and
• In Memoriam

The individual or family which is cited in the donation will receive an acknowledgement from the Charity indicating that a Tribute Donation was made in their honour or their loved-one’s honour.


Gifts-in-Kind:

Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity welcomes various types of Gifts-in-Kind,  (both new and previously used) including equipment (such as walkers and wheelchairs), books, art and religious items for the Residence Chapel

Gifts-in-kind and the related tax receipt are based on the appraised value of the particular item (new or previously used) and in the case of gifts of equipment, actual need.

Gifts of Stock:

Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity gratefully receives gifts in the form of securities such as stocks and mutual funds. Please be aware that securities must be transferred, not cashed in first, in order to receive the tax benefits.
