Jerry A. Buligan is a senior Director at Longo’s Brothers Fruit Market Inc. His responsibilities involve Risk Management, Environmental Sustainability and Facilities Services. He has held this responsibility for 10 years and under his direction, Longo’s became the first Grocery Retailer to have a solar energy system tied to the electrical grids in Canada. He has also lead several industry leading environmental initiatives which have reduced the company’s carbon footprint.
Prior to working at Longo’s, Mr. Buligan was a Police Officer with the Halton Regional Police Force for 20 years. He was the chief Hostage/ Barricaded Person Negotiator for the department for 15 years. During the course of his policing career, Mr. Buligan was awarded the O.P.P. Commissioner’s Citation for Bravery and also received the Chiefs Award of Excellence. Mr Buligan also developed and initiated Project “Reach Out” to ethnic Italians in the Halton community, which later was adopted by the province with other ethnic cultures.
In 2006, Mr Buligan was appointed the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Villa Leonardo Gambin Long Term Care Home. In 2011, he graciously accepted the appointment of Chairman of the Board for the home.
Mr. Buligan attended the University of Toronto, St Michael’s College, The Ontario Police College and the Canadian Police College.
Mr. Buligan currently resides in Halton Hills with his wife and four children.
